Discovery Health's "Mystery Diagnosis" episode
about my 17-year search for a Behcet's diagnosis:
Part 1 (10 minutes)

Please see my notes below about some
of the info presented in this episode.
YouTube's audio/video is occasionally
out of sync on this episode (unpredictable).

Part 2 (8 minutes)

IMPORTANT NOTES ABOUT THIS "MYSTERY DIAGNOSIS" EPISODE:
  • I didn't supply the picture in this video of fluid-filled blisters (called vesicles) that covered the patient's legs. When I get these blisters, they're nearly always on my fingers/hands or feet/toes. They're pretty small, although I've had one on my ankle that was about 1/4" in diameter. I've also had some blisters on my scalp and knees. However, I've never had them all over my legs like the picture shows, and I haven't heard of other BDers with extensive blister eruptions on their legs like the picture showed, either. Of course, that doesn't mean that it can't happen, just that I haven't heard of it or seen it through my own connections. From what I understand, though, other autoimmune illnesses could cause big eruptions like that: Sweet's syndrome may be one possibility, and Sweet's occasionally shows up in people who have BD.

  • I also didn't supply the picture of oral ulcers that appears in the video (i.e., that wasn't my mouth in the picture).

  • The show implied that there was one specific drug that put me into remission, but that wasn't the case. My remission lasted approximately two years, but I now have occasional symptoms again (although they're MUCH better than they used to be).
